PM2.5 Forecast for Beijing – Thursday, January 30, 2014

Thursday's forecast is looking better now than it was.  It looks almost certain that we will have Good/Moderate air quality by the time we wake up in the morning, and PM2.5 levels should remain low at least through about noon.  But after lunch, PM2.5 levels should start moving and continue moving up throughout the rest of the day.

EXTENDED FORECAST

FRIDAY, January 31:  Friday looks like something of a transition day.  While not giving us fully clear skies, the weather conditions should keep the pollution from accumulating too much.  It is most likely that we will see conditions at Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups or Unhealthy throughout the day.  Given the widespread shutdown of industry during the holiday, Friday is likely to be a better than average day.

SATURDAY, February 1: The first day of February is shaping up to be a disappointment when it comes to air quality.  Look for Very Unhealthy or higher pollution levels at points through the afternoon and evening.

SUNDAY, February 2:  Sunday should present us with a chance at good air quality again.  The current forecast gives us weather conditions that could leave us with clear skies after noon.
