PM2.5 Forecast for Beijing – Sunday, January 26, 2014

Sunday may be a mixed bag for air quality.  We're expecting increasing PM2.5 levels overnight through about sunrise, and we should be at Unhealthy or Very Unhealthy at the peak.  Then through the morning, the PM2.5 should stabilize or decrease somewhat.  Sunday's weather pattern is unusual for Beijing, so it is difficult to say whether the predicted weather will result in a big drop in the pollution or just a small drop/leveling off.  In any case, we expect the pollution to accumulate again in the evening.

EXTENDED FORECAST

MONDAY, January 27:  Monday still looks like it will give us a chance at good air quality, with that clear air most likely arriving in the late afternoon or evening after we spend the rest of the day with poor air quality.

TUESDAY, January 28:  Tuesday is looking like another day with mixed air quality.  We could see fairly low AQIs in the early morning and in the afternoon, and it looks like the AQI is likely to stay at Unhealthy or lower for the entire day.

WEDNESDAY, January 29: We're expecting poor air quality on Wednesday, almost certainly at Unhealthy or higher levels all day.
