PM2.5 Forecast for Beijing – Friday, January 31, 2014

We're expecting better than average air quality for Friday.  After higher PM2.5 levels overnight, it looks likely that the pollution should clear at least somewhat in the early morning hours.  There is some variation in the weather forecasts, so the possible range we're predicting for tomorrow's low point is fairly wide.  After the morning's clearing skies, we expect increasing PM2.5 levels in the afternoon.  On any other day, the evening's air quality should be fairly stable, but the presence of fireworks could significantly increase the evening's readings.

EXTENDED FORECAST

SATURDAY, February 1: The first day of February may be a mixed day for air quality.  We could see decent air quality in the morning, but we could also see Very Unhealthy or higher pollution levels at points in the afternoon and evening.

SUNDAY, February 2:  Sunday should bring us good air quality again.  The current forecast gives us weather conditions that should leave us with clear skies sometime between 9AM and 2PM.

MONDAY, February 3:  The good air quality should continue for nearly the entire day on Monday.  We will likely see rising PM2.5 levels late in the day, but likely not until after sunset.
